Non-ferrous
Non-ferrous metals, such as aluminum, copper and brass, are not magnetic and must be separated by methods other than magnets.

Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is a non-corrosive alloy containing a mixture of steel, chromium and nickel. 304 or 18/8 is the most common grade of stainless steel due to its versatility in residential and commercial applications.

Aluminum wheels
There are various high temperature alloys such as titanium, inconel, tungsten/carbide and cupronickel, to name a few.

Old Aluminum
Clean the old mixed aluminum alloy sheet. Old aluminum is the most common grade in this category and acts as a catch-all in that just about any clean grade of aluminum can be found in this grade.

Aluminum Low Cup
New aluminum or clean aluminum sheet, such as checker plate or duct, is an unpainted material and generally thicker than old aluminum. There are also no other foreign attachments such as iron. New aluminum is another common quality that is difficult to downgrade, as only unpainted items should be in the pile.

Aluminum Extrusion
Extrusions usually come in the form of handrails and window frames. Extrusions will always have an angular shape due to the extrusion process and may be 6063 or 6061 extrusions. Depending on the source, there may be a thermally broken extrusion with rubber/plastic in the center.

Combo transmission motors
In many cases, if the aluminum has a shape, it would be considered cast aluminum. This material will most likely have a dull, grainy appearance. The material is generally brittle and can be broken with tools or by falling to the ground.
Aluminium Casting

Small motors
50% engines and 50% transmissions, aluminum only

Aluminum And Copper Radiators
Aluminum/copper heaters are found in air conditioners and household appliances. These units have copper pipes with attached aluminum fins that are usually surrounded by a steel frame.

Aluminum Radiators
Aluminum radiators are found in cars and air conditioners. These radiators are made of aluminum only. All iron and plastic must be removed.

Seal units
There are two different grades of aluminum for car and truck wheels. Car wheels are 356 aluminum with some chrome wheels and truck wheels are almost always 6061 aluminum.

Starters and alternators
Painted aluminum siding is just that, siding houses with gutters and downspouts. Depending on how much of this material enters a facility, it may or may not be sorted as it can easily be mixed with dirt/tobacco.

Insulated Wires
Insulated wires (Aluminum & Copper) are used in electrical applications and vary in size depending on the power requirements. Individual strand gauge and percentage of copper to waste will determine the price of this material.

#1 Copper
Clean copper plumbing pipe. Contains no solder, paint, oxidization, or other containment.

#2 Copper
Plumbing pipe which containers solder, paint, and heavy oxidation.

Brass
Sheet copper such as roof flashing.

Transformers
Turnings from copper manufacturing. Can be different grades of copper.

Copper bearing
Non-ferrous fixtures and valves used in the residential and industrial plumbing industry.

E-Waste
Residential and industrial water meters made from brass.

High nickels
Brass radiators are found in older automobiles, trucks and equipment.

Batteries
Lead acid batteries from vehicles and equipment.

Zinc
Lead acid batteries encased in a steel box which allows for the batteries to be hooked up in parallel. Mostly found in electric fork lift,

Tin
Tin is an element which can be used to make cans, sheets or is added to other metals to make solder, brass etc.

Soft lead
Pure lead from manufacturing, roofing and other applications.

Car lead
Indoor range lead from gun ranges
